Corio volunteers rewarded for service

Published 12/09/2012

Victoria State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers have been rewarded for their hard work at the Corio Unit Service Awards.

Held on Monday, September 3, the event saw Corio Unit volunteer Jock Burn receive his Ten Year Service Award. Peter Lindorff, Julie Marr and John Giblin each received their Five Year Service Award.

Unit members were also presented with certificates recognising competencies they’ve achieved through training.

Awards were presented by Shadow Minister for Volunteers and Member for Lara John Eren, as well as SES Acting Regional Manager Mark Cattell and Unit Controller Jason Maxwell.

The unit also demonstrated a simulated road rescue for Mr Eren, removing the roof and side of a vehicle using hydraulic equipment including the “jaws of life”.

Mr Eren told the team their demonstration had been very informative and especially helpful in his role on the Road Safety Committee.

The Corio Unit was thrilled to have him with them and deserve to be proud of their commitment and achievements.
