Help us celebrate StormSafe Week

As we come into spring and the busiest storm season, Victorians need to ask themselves: how much is one hour of your time worth?

$128,000?

In 2011 alone, storms inflicted $1.1 billion in loss and damage on the state according to Insurance Council of Australia estimates.

That’s $3 million a day; $128,000 an hour. 

Since March 2010, the damage bill is more than $2.1 billion.

Much of the damage inflicted by storms is preventable, so Victorians need to decide whether they will prepare now or pay later.

That’s the theme for this year’s StormSafe Week, which begins on Monday 20 August.

An initiative of Victoria State Emergency Service (SES), StormSafe Week seeks to encourage everyone to be better prepared for the risk of storms in their community.

To celebrate, volunteers are holding StormSafe events across the state, including:
