Moorabbin SES says thanks

Published 25/06/2013

Victoria State Emergency Service’s (SES) Moorabbin Unit can buy new equipment thanks to support from Bunnings and Dulux.

Moorabbin SES is made up of volunteers who give their time to keep their local community safe. Scot Walker from Moorabbin Unit promoting SES Bunnings Mentone

The group participated in their first Bunnings sausage sizzle recently – much to the delight of Mentone shoppers – and received donations of produce and giveaways from both Bunnings Mentone and Dulux on the day.

The event raised more than 3,000 which the unit will put towards gear such as chainsaws, torches and protective equipment.

Additionally, Dulux recently gave the group $1,400 as part of a promotion wherein the company donated a portion of profits from its January sales.

Moorabbin SES volunteer Rachael Roach said the most important outcome of the sausage sizzle was the opportunity to reach a diverse range of people in the community and let them know what SES does and when to contact them.

“The support and praise of the work our volunteers do from the community was outstanding and very humbling for our volunteers to experience,” she said.

“Moorabbin SES volunteers would like to thank and acknowledge the support of Bunnings and Dulux, two Australian-owned companies.”
