National SES Week underway

Published 12/11/2012

National SES Week, which is being celebrated from Monday 12 to Sunday 18 November, is an opportunity to recognise the incredible year-round efforts of Australia's combined 27,000 SES volunteers.

We’re asking Victorians to say thank you to our 5,500 volunteers who give up their time across the state to work tirelessly to keep their communities safe during flood, storm and road accident emergencies. Last financial year, Victorian SES volunteers put in more than 146,000 hours responding, rescuing and protecting our communities.

Have you said thanks?

Convoy of Thanks: Write your message on the side of our brand new Forward Command Vechicle, which is making its way around Victoria. Follow its location on our interactive map, and don't worry if you can't get to it - you can still post your messages of thanks on our website.

Wear Orange Wednesday: Stand in solidarity with SES volunteers by wearing orange on Wednesday 14 November. Send us a picture of your orange outfit for the chance to win some great prizes.

But remember - our volunteers are also everyday people who work alongside us, as shown in today's web video featuring our mascot Paddy Platypus. Enjoy!
