National Volunteer Week comes to a close

National Volunteer Week comes to a close

Published: 16/05/2014

This week, Victoria State Emergency Service (SES) has been celebrating the power of volunteering as part of National Volunteer Week.

Highlights of the week include some great profiles of SES volunteers in local papers across the state. These profiles really help to solidify the communities understanding of what SES volunteers do and what motivates them.

In the days leading up to volunteer week, the Facebook community were asked to describe SES volunteers in one work. Words like heroes, awesome, selfless and dedicated featured heavily in these descriptions and were then used to create a beautiful word cloud. Visit our facebook page to take a look.

And finally, Waverly SES Unit really went the extra mile by producing a fabulous video showcasing what it takes to be a volunteer. You can view the video below.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of National Volunteer Week, May 12-18, celebrating the efforts of volunteers throughout Australia.
