Families had the chance to put together a Home Emergency Kit over the April school holidays when the State Emergency Service (SES) headed to Scienceworks.

The Scienceworks museum invited the SES to present alongside the National Water Commission’s OurWater exhibit during the holidays.

The SES gave two presentations a day, often to packed crowds, to spread the FloodSafe messages of being prepared, having a plan and never driving, riding, walking or playing in floodwater.

Children enthusiastically helped presenters put together a Home Emergency Kit in front of the crowd before enjoying a visit from Paddy Platypus.

Attendees were receptive to the SES’ message, with some staying afterwards to chat about their experiences during emergencies.
