Seymour SES Unit fundraising barbecue

Published 31/10/2012

The Seymour Unit of Victoria State Emergency Service (SES) will be out in force on Thursday for a fundraising barbecue.

The barbecue will be fired up in the Coles Seymour car park from 11am until 5pm, with sausages in bread for sale for $2 each. Food has been donated by Coles.

All money raised will go to the unit, who will purchase Kevlar-based sharps protection material, which is placed over sharp edges of metal and glass during a road crash rescue to prevent injury to both volunteers and casualties.

Paddy Platypus will join SES volunteers and vehicles for the event, providing a great opportunity to meet local members, hear their advice on being prepared and have a look at their equipment and capabilities.

Seymour woman Kerry-Ann Bradshaw will be shaving her head onsite at 2.30pm to raise awareness of SES. Ms Bradshaw shaves her head every few years in the name of a worthy cause and, given her family's long involvement with the Seymour SES Unit, is keen to throw her support behind it.
