Stay informed this long weekend

Published 25/01/2013

Fire agencies are tackling fires and hot conditions across the state today. Victorians and visitors are encouraged to stay informed of their local situation over the Australia Day break.

Today is a day of total fire ban in the Mallee, Wimmera, South West, Northern Country, North Central, Central (including Melbourne and Geelong) and West and South Gippsland districts.

A number of fires are burning across the state and the resulting smoke is affecting parts of the central and eastern districts.

Victoria State Emergency Service (SES) continues to assist fire operations, providing assistance in logistics and agency support at the state and regional levels. Volunteers are helping on in a range of ways including the ground with traffic management and lighting.

For warnings and advice on current fires, visit the CFA website. More information is also available on the smoke haze that remains visible to many.

Stay informed over the long weekend via the CFA website, ABC local radio, the FireReady smartphone app and the Victorian Bushfire Information Line on 1800 240 667.
