The scene of the accident

More than 30 Victoria State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers attended an incident near Wandong on Friday night when a V-Line train collided with a car.

Volunteers from SES' Seymour, Craigieburn and Kilmore units joined CFA crews and Victoria Police at the scene to assist in the evacuation of more than 260 train passengers, who were guided along the tracks to waiting buses.

SES crews also provided lighting of the scene and helped V-Line crews remove vehicle wreckage from underneath the train.

Having been called to the scene at about 7.30pm, SES volunteers headed home shortly after midnight.

No injuries have been reported from the vehicle or train passengers.

It is understood that two passengers in the car had exited the vehicle before the collision.
