Cow rescued from a sticky spot
Victoria State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers from the Woodend Unit rescued a cow from a bog last night.
The cow had just given birth and, while chasing her newborn calf, became trapped in mud.
Given the night she'd been having, the new mum was too tired to get out, so her owner called for assistance.
Eight SES volunteers attended shortly after 6pm and, with the help of Victoria Police and the owner, winched the cow out and to safety.
All told the operation took about two hours, and when volunteers left, the new mum was eating happily.
