Emergency contacts

Victoria has a long history of emergencies, some of them highly destructive, and has developed a capability for dealing with such events. Many organisations in the community, including the emergency services, play a part. 

Below you will find crucial contact information that will assist members of the public in an emergency.

Flood, Storm, Tsunami and Earthquake Emergency

Call 132 500 from anywhere in Victoria for flood, storm, tsunami and earthquake emergency. For life-threatening emergencies call Triple Zero (000).

VICSES Information Line

Current emergency information is available by calling the VICSES Information Line on 1300 VICSES (that's 1300 842 737). When this service is operating during a large-scale emergency, you may be connected to a call taker or hear a message recorded by SES. National Relay Service

If you are deaf, hard of hearing or have a speech impairment, contact emergency numbers using the National Relay Service:

    • TTY users phone 106 then ask for either 000 or 132 500 or 1300 842 737 (1300 VICSES)
    • Speak and Listen users phone 1800 555 727 then ask for either 000 or 132 500 or 1300 842 737 (1300 VICSES)
    • Internet relay users connect to the NRS then ask for either 000 or 132 500 or 1300 842 737 (1300 VICSES)
