Get prepared! Geelong Cats spread a safety message with the SES

Simple planning and decision making processes in your day-to-day life can help you better prepare for an emergency. That’s the message Geelong, Corio, South Barwon and Bellarine SES Units took to the round 14 Geelong versus Fremantle footy game.

“Recent weather events in the Geelong region have demonstrated that storms and floods can, and do, arrive without warning. We know that prepared communities are more resilient to these events and bounce back more quickly,” said community education officer Lauren Miller from South Barwon Unit.

“There are some easy ways to prepare yourself, your home, your family and your business for the threat of floods and storms,” she added. “Planning doesn’t take much time but you need to do it before an emergency strikes.

“Tasks like cleaning your gutters, preparing a home emergency kit, securing outdoor furniture or even just taking the time to think about what you and your family will do if an emergency occurs can make a big difference.”
