The FloodSafe message has been plastered across Victoria this week thanks to the addition of nine new Local Flood Guides.

Victoria State Emergency Service (SES) launched the guides in our East, North East and Mid West regions as part of FloodSafe Week.

Local Flood Guides are bright and engaging booklets aimed at providing communities with detailed information about their flood risk. The guides all contain maps, historical flood information, warnings advice as well as detailed lists of local contacts and emergency broadcasters.

Each guide also contains important information about how to prepare, respond and what to do after a flood.

At a media launch for the Beaufort Local Flood Guide earlier this week, SES Community Resilience Coordinator Stacey Sherman explained: “These guides are vital to help people understand where the flood risk is in the town, so that they can have a plan of action and help to reduce the damage when a flood occurs.”

The Local Flood Guides launched this week include Beaufort, Clunes, Eagle Point, Hollands Landing, Lakes Entrance,Loch Sport, Metung, Murchison and Paynesville.

A complete list of all Local Flood Guides can be found and downloaded from the SES website on the Your local flood information page.  New guides will continue to be added when they become available.
