SES volunteers make lives better

“We help people when they’re in trouble, when the weather is bad or something disastrous happens,” Sally explains. “And we make things better for people.”
Sally decided to volunteer with the SES after a redundancy left her with more time on her hands. When she’s called to an incident, Sally is very aware that her role can mean the world of difference to someone in a tricky situation. Knowing you can help is very rewarding.
Sally admits to being a person who once ran away from a problem. “Through the training that I’ve had I now have the confidence and skills to know I could help somebody that is really in trouble,” she says – even saving a life.
