VICSES Annual Report records second busiest year on record

The Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) Annual Report 2016–17 has been released, providing insight into the people and events that shaped our second busiest year on record.

In 2016–17, VICSES volunteers responded to 31,710 incidents. There were 23,219 storm, 1,510 road rescue and 3,571 flood call outs. It’s undoubtedly an incredible effort from our 5,092 volunteers and 211 staff.

VICSES focus in 2016–17 examined how we do what we do, and how we can continue to do it better. It coincided with extreme and unpredictable weather events that led to the high level of activity reported in this year’s annual report.
