Volunteers and staff from the Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) will once again proudly participate in the Midsumma Pride March.

For Acting VICSES Chief Officer Operations, David Baker, the occasion is an opportunity to celebrate diversity within the community and the agency.

“Community is made up of a lot of different people. Our organisation should reflect that diversity. Our involvement in this march sends a clear message: VICSES celebrates diversity and is a safe place for people from all aspects of our community.”

Wearing rainbow epaulettes, more than 60 members will take part in the march.

VICSES CEO, Stephen Griffin, will also take part. He says diversity is key to the organisation’s success.

“It’s a really fun day that reflects our commitment to people and reflects the diversity of not only the communities we serve, but the diversity within our own organisation”.

VICSES will march alongside other Victorian emergency services including the Country Fire Authority (CFA), Ambulance Victoria, Victoria Police and Emergency Management Victoria.

The 23rd Midsumma Pride March will be held on Sunday 28th January 2018, on Fitzroy Street, St Kilda.
