Wear Orange Wednesday 10 May to show your support for SES volunteers

You can rely on the Victoria State Emergency Service volunteers in orange to respond to your call. They are ready to help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Wear Orange Wednesday is your chance to show your thanks.

Our 5000 heroes in orange respond to floods, storms, tsunamis, earthquakes and landslides. They are Australia’s largest road rescue provider, in addition to providing support to other emergency agencies such as Ambulance Victoria, Victoria Police, the Country Fire Authority and the Metropolitan Fire Brigade.

“Our volunteers are absolutely vital to the Victoria State Emergency Service,” says Trevor White, Chief Officer of Operations. “Without the volunteers there wouldn’t be a Victoria State Emergency Service.

“They’re extremely passionate, dedicated and focussed on providing a quality service to the community.” Every volunteer commits to ongoing professional training and makes sure they’re available and ready to respond.

While there are 206 staff who provide support to the volunteers, it is the volunteers who work on the front line. Trevor, who overseas emergency operations, adds, “It is the volunteers who show up to every rescue, and the volunteers who respond to homes and businesses with storm damage.”
