The Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) has an important role supporting Victoria's emergency management arrangements through planning and preparedness activities.
It does this by assisting municipal councils and other agencies with the provision of advice, information, education and training in relation to emergency management, including the prevention of, response to, and recovery from emergencies.
VICSES has recently developed a Community Emergency Risk Management Model which it is using to assist municipal councils in enhancing their emergency management plans. This is necessary to help councils fulfil the recently revised funding conditions under the Commonwealth/State Natural Disaster Relief Arrangements.
VICSES is represented on all major emergency management committees at National, State and Regional levels and contributes significantly to the development of emergency management policy.
