Expressions of interest are now being requested for attendance at the VICSES & CFA Rescue Symposium.

VICSES and CFA have a rich and proud history of supporting community during times of natural disaster. Additionally, as the two largest providers of Road Crash Rescue in Victoria, there will be times where both agencies will need to support each other in the provision of Road Crash Rescue capability.

As a means of collaboration and further strengthening relationships between both volunteer rescue agencies, a joint one-day workshop will be held.

Aim: The aim of the workshop is to collaborate on Road Crash Rescue techniques, share knowledge and learn from one another.

This will be a one-day workshop and accommodation is not provided. If accommodation is needed, this will be at the cost of Unit/Brigade.

Nominations will be for Units/Brigades based on East or West Zone, and members will not be able to attend an alternate location.

A limit of two members from the Unit/Brigade will need to be observed, to ensure maximum exposure and development opportunities for as many different Units/Brigades.
 
Members will only be able to nominate to attend one day for their zone.
Each workshop will cover the same content, regardless of the date it is run on.

East or West locations are based on the following Unit/Brigade regions:

East - Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th June

  • Southern Metro
  • Eastern Metro
  • Hume
  • Gippsland

West - Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th June

  • North West Metro
  • Barwon South West
  • Grampians
  • Loddon Mallee


Eligibility:

  • Members must be a member of an accredited Road Crash Rescue Unit/Brigade
  • Members must hold PUASAR024 – Undertake Road Crash Rescue and have maintained currency


This is not a skills acquisition course, and the workshop should be treated as professional development opportunity for members to take back to their Unit/Brigade.

In the unlikely event that undersubscription occurs, there may be an opportunity to nominate more than two members from each Unit/Brigade. This will be communicated to those who have submitted an expression of interest if relevant.

Successful nominations will be advised via email provided on nomination. Joining instructions will be provided including session details for the day once places have been confirmed.

Members wishing to nominate should discuss with their Unit/Brigade Management Team prior to nominating. Nominations will be presumed to have the endorsement of their Unit/Brigade Management Team.

Due to venue limitations and COVIDSafe planning, spectators will not be permitted to attend except for invited dignitaries.
