It takes thousands of dedicated Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) volunteers from across the state to provide emergency assistance 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Register your interest in becoming a volunteer with VICSES or find out more about the units in your area.
Please note: During a current weather emergency, VICSES may not be able to contact you straight away or spontaneously recruit, screen and coordinate new volunteers. It's always best to get involved with VICSES before emergency events so you're already skilled up. In the meantime, if you're still keen to help during a crisis, you can register for clean-up and recovery projects via Victoria's Volunteer Portal.
Enquire about volunteering
There are three ways to enquire about volunteering:
- Find your local unit using the map on this page, then click the link in the popup to fill out the online enquiry form.
- Find your local unit in the A-Z list on this page, then click the link to fill out the online enquiry form.
- Call 1300 VICSES (1300 842 737) and select option 2. Calls made during business hours will be connected to your local VICSES office.
Once you have registered with us, we’ll put you in touch with a representative from your local VICSES unit who can tell you more about becoming a volunteer.
Please note: The information you provide to VICSES will only be used to process your request for more information about becoming a VICSES volunteer. It will not be provided to third parties or used for any other purpose.
Zoom into the map to find your local VICSES unit. Click on the unit marker and follow the link to register your interest via the online form.
Note: Most units are named after a suburb or town but some in Greater Melbourne are named after a council area. Regional support units are non-operational and provide admin support as well as incident management support during operations.
