Over the past week, VICSES has received more than 1,200 requests for assistance and about 500 of those were flood related.

There is a lot of water in rivers, creeks and on the ground and it’s likely it will remain there for some time.

There have been significant impacts across the state including school closures, hundreds of road closures, evacuations, power outages and mobile phone coverage disrupted in some areas.

Thirty landslides have been cleared along the Great Ocean Road, which still remains closed between Eastern View and Lorne, and between Lorne and Skenes Creek.

While the rain has eased, it is only temporary. Some rivers are still expected to reach their peak, including the Avoca River in Charlton as well as rivers in Kerang and Horsham.

People are reminded to never drive through floodwater and to keep up-to-date with current warnings and advice.
