VICSES celebrates Father’s Day: It’s a family affair with the McArthurs

Published: 31/08/2018

Doug McArthur has been a volunteer with the Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) for more than 30 years.

For a decade Doug has been the Dunkeld Unit Controller, during his esteemed career he’s responded to several major incidents, including the Black Saturday bushfires in 2009.

He’s even been named lifetime member of his unit.

On top of all that, Doug is a loving husband and father of three children and it seems volunteering with VICSES is a family affair within the McArthur household!

Doug’s wife, Mary-Jane and their son Will, are also members of the Dunkeld Unit.

24-year-old Will McArthur  joined as a junior member eight years ago and now works side-by-side his dad.

Doug’s story is one of may that highlight our wonderful volunteers, some of which are Dad’s who give up their precious time om Father’s Day to help their community.

It’s volunteers like Doug that make VICSES the organisation it is today.

From all of us at VICSES - happy Father’s Day to each and every dad.
