From 9:00pm on Wednesday 26 January to 5:00pm today (Friday), Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) has received over 1,600 calls for help from across the state.

As of 5:00pm, our volunteers have cleared over 1,100 of those jobs, with around 480 active jobs remaining. We thank the community for their patience as we respond as quickly as possible.

Over 900 of those calls have come from the west of the state, and another 650 from across metropolitan Melbourne. So far, the east of the state has been spared the worst of the impacts.

We are seeing increasing reports of vehicles entering floodwater across the state. Please never drive on flooded roads. It could be the last decision you ever make.

In Central Region:

Including in metropolitan Melbourne, VICSES volunteers have received around 650 calls for help with 50% of those jobs now cleared. Calls for assistance include requests for help with building damage (260), flood impacts (226), and downed trees (115). Most affected suburbs include:

  • Wheelers Hill (39)
  • Craigieburn (24) 
  • Caulfield South (16)

Busiest units include:

  • VICSES Glen Eira Unit (159),
  • VICSES Monash Unit (61) and
  • VICSES Sorrento Unit (37).

In Loddon Mallee (North West):

VICSES volunteers have received 298 calls for help in the past 48 hours with 231 jobs now cleared. Calls include requests for help with: flood (155), downed trees (76), and building damage (54). Most affected suburbs include:

  • Mildura (103),
  • Gisborne (24) and
  • Castlemaine (22).

Busiest units include:

  • VICSES Mildura Unit (141),
  • VICSES Gisborne Unit (41) and
  • VICSES Castlemaine Unit (35).

In the Grampians Region (Mid West):

VICSES volunteers received 147 calls for help with 122 jobs now cleared.

Calls include requests for help with:

  • downed trees (66)
  • building damage (39)
  • flood (39)

Most affected suburbs include:

  • Horsham (20)
  • St Arnaud (14) 
  • Edenhope (10)

Busiest units include:

  • VICSES Ballarat Unit (37),
  • VICSES Horsham Unit (33) and
  • VICSES Bacchus Marsh Unit (24).

In Barwon South West Region:

VICSES volunteers received 435 calls for help with 399 jobs now cleared. Calls were for assistance with:

  • flood (208),
  • building damage (127), and
  • downed trees (69).

Most affected suburbs were:

  • Belmont (72),
  • Highton (45) and
  • Mortlake (23).

Busiest units were:

  • VICSES South Barwon Unit (159),
  • VICSES Geelong Unit (61) and
  • VICSES Bellarine Unit (37).
